Judging philosophy:
This is your activity. I will do my best to adapt to your style of debating. I believe that I am here as an observer of the hard work and the long hours that you have put into your arguments. A few words of caution however... 1) I am not currently a debate coach and I have not researched this topic. This means that I am generally unfamiliar with the acronyms and concepts that are now common knowledge in the debate community concerning this topic. 2) I have a hard time voting on positions that I don't understand. The best way to get me to vote on something is to teach me about it by occasionally slowing down, looking me in the eye and telling me what is going on. 3) On the Affirmative, I want to see offense on the negative positions. From the Negative, you must make good strategic decisions throughout the round, but especially in the rebuttals. Choose or lose. 4) I will not do work for you. However, I expect that you will do work for me. Write my ballot for me in the second rebuttals. I need an impact calculus, a body count, cost-benefit analysis, something to that effect.
